The microstructure of materials is closely related to their mechanical and physical properties. Metallography is a fundamental method for revealing the microstructure of materials. Through metallographic observation and analysis, it can serve as an important basis for quality control during product manufacturing processes and as a powerful tool for the research and development of new materials. Optical microscopes are widely used to observe the microstructure of materials. They are easy to operate and sample preparation is relatively simple, making them the most widely used and fundamental analytical tool in metallographic analysis. In view of this importance, the department established the Metallography Laboratory in 1983 and has since continuously acquired metallographic microscopes and related sample preparation equipment, forming the laboratory facilities available today. |
